Mountainview Vineyards is a working wine farm in the Robertson Wine Route in the Western Cape, South Africa. We produce a wide range of grapes for local wineries, including Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Emerald Riesling, Shiraz, Colombar, and Merlot.

During the beginning of the year, we harvest grapes to be sent off for winemaking. The rest of the year we devote ourselves to preparing for the next harvest, as well as growing our Cape Gooseberries and Rooibos Tea.

We also offer accommodation through Airbnb and Booking.com. We offer a luxury farm stay in a villa that sleeps eight people comfortably. We offer beautiful scenery, serene surroundings and the comfort of home.

About the space

Mountainview is a working vineyard. In Chardonnay house, you can find peace and tranquillity, surrounded by mountains and wildlife, ranging from the majestic fish eagle to the occasional cape leopard or breeding pair of eagles. You are free to roam the farm and its mountains or follow the many trails on the farm. Swim in the rock pool filled with crystal clear mountain water or climb a steep hill to view indigenous rock art.

You will stay in Chardonnay house, the original cottage built on the farm. Two spacious rooms and a large family room with its own verandah makes it easy to accommodate you according to your preferences. The Family room has two king beds and two single beds, to accommodate all sleeping needs. Three full bathrooms, living area with kitchen and dining room is yours to enjoy. We provide a flat screen TV and Netflix. We also provide DSTV with a Premium package for guests to enjoy. WiFi is free.

This is a self catering unit. Bring food and water (the tap water is potable) , hiking boots/shoes. The kitchen is fully equipped and outside barbecue is available.

You are two and a half hours from Cape Town, and thirty minutes from Robertson. The farm is secluded and very safe. Approximately 10 kilometres is a good dirt road. If you would like to use the farm as a base for your exploration of the Western Cape, let us know and we will assist in arranging day trips (e.g. wine tasting, nature reserves, ferry and tractor rides, ostrich farms, etc.) at very reasonable rates.

Robertson is a town rich in history and the business of wine. Home to some of the largest wineries in the country, and surrounded by beautiful vineyards, orchards and mountains, this town offers a variety of activities and events to satisfy the wine enthusiast. Furthermore, the scenery inspires the inner traveller with skyscraping mountains, open fields and bright starlight.

Mountainview Vineyards is a working vineyard offering prime accommodation for travellers to and from Robertson. Surrounded by mountains and lush flora and fauna, the Chardonnay House easily accommodates up to 8 people. With all the amenities one may need for a comfortable stay in one of the most popular wine areas in the country, feel free to walk around an actual vineyard, climb the mountain and swim in rock pools. Marvel at the darkest night sky with the brightest of stars, and enjoy a braai with family and friends. Visit the attractions of the area, go for wine tastings or visit the restaurants and art galleries in town. So many things to keep a traveller satisfied.

  We stayed at Mountainview as a family for a weekend away to celebrate our mom's 60th birthday. It was absolutely fantastic! The house itself is great for families, we all felt like we had our own private spacious rooms and bathrooms, but could come together and share meals and spend time together on the beautiful patio overlooking the vineyards and swimming pool. 

The house is so well equipped and is an entertainers paradise. There is more than enough crockery and cutlery for everyone, lovely wine glasses, platters, pots and dishes for cooking and serving food beautifully. Each room has fans and there is even an inverter for during loadshedding. Other small touches we appreciated were the bottle of wine and milk in the fridge, the lovely soaps in each bathroom and the fresh bath and swimming towels for everyone.

We were very impressed with Mountainview and look forward to returning again soon!

  The best place to relax and recuperate after a challenging year!  We had a wonderful time at this special place.  Perfect bliss and comfort with views to die for!  The kitchen is well kitted out with great crockery, cookware and utensils.  Beds are super comfortable with quality bedlinen ( I absolutely hate old washed out, smelly linen).   Marlize and Willie are warm and friendly hosts. We really felt at home and were sad to leave.  We will most certainly visit again.  Do yourself a favour and GO. You'll love it!
